In-Depth Discussion

How long have you been gaming, and which other games do you play apart from Rocket League?

I have been gaming from a very young age, I can’t even remember how young I was! I am also playing Rust and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds at the moment.

Which games have been your favourites over the years?

I really enjoyed Socom: Confrontation – it’s one of my all time favourites. I would have to say some of my other all-time favourite games are GTA San Andreas and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

How did you get the name NoClip?

I got it from a mechanic that is used in Garry’s Mod and some other games like CoD4 – where using the NoClip command lets you float around the map in free view.

Describe yourself in 5 words:

Outgoing, Dedicated, Adaptable, Amiable, Unassuming.

What other hobbies do you engage in other than gaming?

I do archery and I play basketball.

NoClip is part of the Online Kingdom gaming organisation

Very interesting! So how do you balance competitive gaming and life?

I schedule my days and try very hard to stick to the schedule. My schedule varies depending on what’s currently going on in my life. It’s not very easy but I am good at managing my time (most of the time).

You recently finished second in the RLX 1v1 and fourth in the RLX 2v2, congratulations! In your experience, what did you think of these events?

The events were very professional for sure, I could see that a lot of thought and effort was put into organising them. The prize pools were a very smart idea and definitely attracted a lot of people. All-in-all the events continue to help build the community in a big way, and that’s something great to be a part of.

Describe your play-style to me:

I play quite aggressively, and I’ve been told that I’m very annoying to play both with and against!

How and when did your team meet, and where did you get the name?

We started playing about a month ago in the last leg of the Telkom Digital Gaming League (now VS Gaming). I went to school with AboveAverage and we met obesepancake through Kaska7 who could not play for us anymore. We got the name thrown to us by managers – it was between Impulse or Impact – we just went with the one that sounded better.

Describe your team’s play-style to me:

We’re a very all-round team on the field, but we do play aggressively for the most part. We have definitely synergized well in our short time together.

“I play quite aggressively, and I’ve been told that I’m very annoying to play both with and against!”

Congratulations on making it to the VS LAN championship! How do you feel about the big weekend?

To be honest, we feel pretty confident. We’ve all been putting the hours in, and we’ve been playing a lot of scrims. I believe that we have the potential to take the victory at rAge if we bring everything we’ve got.

Who will be in the team?

NoClip, obesepancake, AboveAverage.

Who is your favourite and who is your underdog for the VS LAN?

Favourite to win is Dangerkids. I think that they are going to be the toughest team out there.

For the underdogs, I would have to go with red Neptune.

Are you guys doing anything in particular to prepare for the LAN?

Nothing too particular. We have been playing a lot of scrims when we have the opportunities. We have also been playing ranked 3v3 as a team quite a lot.

Any shoutouts?

Shoutout to my teammates, and a big shoutout to VS Gaming, RLX, ACGL and everyone else who is involved in promoting the community and really creating a professional competitive environment for South African Rocket League.
