How did you and your teammates meet each other?
Pwnflakes and I have been good friends since high school. We noticed Frag in Call of Duty 4 (COD4) first. We remembered his name and saw him playing RUST one day and then started talking to him. We became friends and then started a team in VS Gaming.

You guys actually started relatively late with Rocket League? Yes. I got it at the end of August last year,  Pwnflakes got it end of September 2016 and Frag end of November that same year.

What are some of the responsibilities of being a captain?
It is actually quite easy. My teammates and I are good friends but when it comes to the administrative side of things it can be a lot of work sometimes.

Fortitude qualified for the VS LAN at rAge in 8th position. How do you feel?
We are excited but also disappointed, because we only finished 8th. We actually thought we would make Top 4 during league play and qualify directly, but then we had to qualify for the playoffs. Rotations were bad and it is something we need to work on.

Favourites to win the LAN?
Rocket Éclair. But I would like OK-dangerkids to win.

Underdogs?
Any of the bottom 4 seeds. But the top 4 seeds will probably top the first four places.

How are you and your team preparing?
We are planning to play ESL tournaments. We are taking it slow at the moment but this month we really need to get into it. The reason for this is to prevent burnout and to try and peak at LAN.

You switched from keyboard to controller. How was the transition?
I swapped at about 800 hours in and currently have like 200 hours with my PS4 Dualshock 4 controller. Frag and Pwnflakes moved first, about 2 weeks before the last leg in VS Gaming. During the last leg, for the first 2 weeks, they actually continued with keyboard and mouse (KB/M). I played KB/M until we got the VS LAN spot.
For me the transition was rough. I don’t usually play controller, console or single player games. So, in general, it was a big adjustment for me and my team.

How was the move from KB/M to the controller for your teammates?
They are more used to a controller so the transition was easier for them. They are better now than they were when playing KB/M.

Do you feel the switch was worth it though?
Yes. It is easier to fly upside down and make shots of the wall. But ground shots’ placement and power on shots are easier to execute on KB/M. I do wish I swapped at the same as my teammates though.

How do you practice?
I do training packs usually – redirect packs are my favourite. I also do a lot of free play and like to watch pro players’ gameplay.

Describe your play-style in 5 words?
Striker.

Short and sweet; I like it.
Haha!

In which area(s) would you like to improve your game?
I want to work on passing because passing is the best.

Tell us more about your team and your play-style?
We are aggressive but dependable players. We are a better team aggressively than when we are more reserved and defensive. We like to pass from the backboard and fly. We like to be up and upside down. Double touches are the best. In SA it much easier to execute as the players here are very grounded and don’t defend the backboard that well. Frag is a more defensive player while Pwnflakes is very aggressive and also a good passer.

What do you think is the potential of your team?
We can become top 3 in SA.

We like to be up and upside down.”

Top 5 games of all time?

Rocket League, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, COD4 and RUST. Anything where I can kill other people.

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to go out with friends or out with my girlfriend. I also enjoy doing work-related stuff in my free time.

Before you go, how did you come up with your name?
I am not sure about the name itself, haha. But the number comes from the song “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap which I have always liked.

Shoutouts?
To my teammates!
